Our Work In Brief
Our Mission
Rapid population growth and human activities in Nigeria drive several climatic, environmental and population health problems. Anthropogenic activities, such as the burning of municipal wastes and deforestation, along with oil exploration and traffic pollution, are major challenges in many cities. The understanding of related health impacts on the population, particularly respiratory health, is limited, affecting national and subnational responses.
The C2REST Nigeria Study is a 3-year research project (2024-2027) that seeks to understand and address the impact of climate change on respiratory health in Nigeria funded by the Medical Research Foundation, United Kingdom.
Our Vision
To achieve substantial reductions in morbidity and mortality from respiratory diseases due to climate change (CC) in Nigeria through a series of studies that will:
- provide an understanding of the current resources and capacity
- measure respiratory health impacts, and
- determine key research and intervention focus.
Key Activities
- Collect data on personal exposures to air pollution & link with the development of respiratory problems.
- Interview community members to understand their knowledge/awareness of CC, adverse impacts & how they build resilience.
