31 Jul, 2024
The C2REST qualitative study commenced on June 26, 2024, in Ado Odo-Ota Local Government Area, Ogun State, and concluded on July 31, 2024, in Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos State. Over the course of the study, a total of 12 Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and 32 In-depth Interviews (IDIs) were conducted. Of the 12 FGDs, six were held in Ogun State and six in Lagos State, with 16 IDIs conducted in each state.
Overview of the FGDs
The FGDs were carried out across Ado Odo-Ota (Ogun State) and Alimosho (Lagos State), with each session engaging eight participants. These discussions brought together a diverse range of individuals, including community and religious leaders, students, market women, housewives, civil servants, administrators, farmers, artisans, and outdoor workers. Both men and women were equally represented to ensure gender equity in the discussions.
Overview of the IDIs
The IDIs involved one-on-one interviews with key stakeholders from Ado Odo-Ota (Ogun State) and Alimosho (Lagos State). Interviewees included notable figures such as the Deputy Director of Women Affairs for Ado Odo-Ota LGA, the Chief Public Health Educator of Ado Odo-Ota LGA, social media climate change activists, youth leaders, community leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, school administrators, sanitarians, a medical lawyer, civil servants, political leaders, health educators, women market leaders, students, chief medical officers, traders, and artisans.
Next Steps
A detailed manuscript describing the study's methods and findings will be prepared and submitted to a peer-reviewed scientific journal for publication. This manuscript will provide a comprehensive analysis of the qualitative data gathered through the FGDs and IDIs.
